"This is an epic 18xx game that takes a whole day to play." My very brief experience of 18xx suggests all of them take 6 to 10 hours ... which I'd consider "a whole day". But I am encouraged to learn here of the introductory ones which hopefully will be shorter?!

Bookmarked for later studies, thanks for the mass of infos.

I came to know (and love) of 1829 (North and South) in the early 80ths, later 1830 and some of the variants. Fortunately even in those times we had computeraided bank/stock so not to mess with the paper and could concentrate on building on the plan.

Still lots of fun every 4-8 weeks with some "old" friends.

Greetings from Germany (1835 Nürnberg-Fürth ;-) ANNA

I purchased 1856 more than 25 years ago but have never played it. I couldn't get my family to try it.

18XX games are typically *not* family games; rather find some like-mind dedicated gamers!
